Udhampur :- Police officers, civil officials, and citizens gathered at Police Martyr Memorial Chowk in Udhampur to honour Constable Raj Kumar, who sacrificed his life defending Jammu Railway Station during a terrorist attack on January 2, 2004.
Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai led the commemoration ceremony, joined by senior police officials including ASP Udhampur and family members of the fallen constable.
Constable Kumar was martyred while confronting terrorists who, disguised in Army uniforms, launched a grenade and shooting attack at the crowded railway station. The assault targeted platforms one and two, where passengers were boarding the Shalimar Express.
Speaking at the event, officials reaffirmed Jammu & Kashmir Police’s commitment to supporting martyrs’ families and preserving their legacy. The ceremony was attended by ADC Udhampur, DSP Headquarters, SHO Udhampur, and numerous local citizens.
The annual observance underscores the police force’s dedication to honoring personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
