A day after Chemist Makhan Lal Bindroo (68) was shot dead in Iqbal Park area of Summer Capital, Srinagar, Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Apni Party leader, Junaid Azim Mattu on Wednesday announced the road from Haft Chinar Chowk to Jehangir Chowk, where Bindroo’s medical store is located, will be named Shaheed Makhan Lal Bindroo Road as a tribute to Makhan Lal Bindroo’s contributions to society.
Bindroo was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside his shop located at Iqbal Park Srinagar yesterday evening.
Junaid Azim Mattu also expressed deep shock and grief over the killing of Bindroo and expressed solidarity with the Bindroo family, friends and relatives.
Makhan Lal’s daughter Shraddha Bindroo said that her father was an awesome person who served Kashmir and Kashmiriyat. She further added that his body is gone but his spirit is still alive and the person responsible for the crime has opened doors of hell for himself.
National Conference chief Dr Farooq Abdullah also visited the family of Bindroo.
