Taking cognizance of a number of complaints of overcharging from pilgrims, ARTO Reasi, Rajesh Gupta, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, today conducted on the spot checking in and around District Reasi .
The ARTO, along with his team, conducted extensive checking at different places and challaned 120 Vehicles for overcharging and other violations and recovered an amount of Rs 1.61 Lakh and compounded various vehicles on the spot.
The ARTO asked the transport operators to display fare lists in their Vehicles for the convenience of the general public & especially for Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
The ARTO also sensitized the drivers about relevant sections of Motor vehicle Act and urged upon them to keep their documents updated in all respects & follow the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as the safety of the others.
