Rs 3.75 cr land cheating case cracked by crime branch

Crime Branch (CB) EOW Jammu has achieved a major breakthrough in a ₹3.75 crore alleged cheating case, cracking the case in record time following the registration of a formal FIR, CB said today.

The case FIR No. 59/2026 U/s 318 BNS was registered in Police Station Crime Branch EOW Jammu on the written complaint of a renowned Jammu-based doctor and owner of Ankur Maitrika Hospital, who alleged financial cheating in connection with the purchase of a residential plot along with a house at Channi Deeli, Jammu. The complainant alleged that he entered into an Agreement to Sell for the property for a total consideration of ₹3.75 crore. He initially paid a token amount but later discovered that the property had been mortgaged with a bank despite being represented as free from encumbrances and he subsequently paid the sale consideration through bank transactions and cash, taking the total payment to ₹3.75 crore. Following registration of the FIR, the Crime Branch acted swiftly and conducted a focused investigation into the bank records, financial transactions, receipts and other documentary evidence. The matter was subsequently resolved with the sale deed/registration of the property valuing to ₹3.75 crore completed in favour of the complainant, CB said.

The investigation is being conducted by Dy.SP Vishal Sharma under the supervision of SSP EOW Crime Branch Jammu and IGP Crime J&K. The team’s prompt action and coordinated investigation led to the case being cracked within a remarkably short period after registration of the formal FIR. Further investigation into the case is in progress.
