Sajad Lone trying to be in good books of Gupkar alliance after disowning Baig

Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone seems to have changed his mind after disowning political stalwart Muzaffar Hussain Baig for being too straightforward in the all-party meeting.

But after a press conference which was held on Thursday, he showered praises on participants of the all-party meeting, mostly the members of Gupkar alliance, which gives an indication of his changed mind.

He said that all participants from Jammu and Kashmir in the all-party meeting represented the genuine sentiments of the people and made them proud.

Lone had dumped People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) in January over the fielding of proxy candidates by constituent parties against the officially mandated candidates of the alliance during DDC elections.

Less than three months after the PAGD, an amalgam of Jammu and Kashmir’s mainstream parties demanding restoration of Article 370 was formed, it received a jolt on when Sajad Lone decided to withdraw his Peoples’ Conference from the group.

Lone said that all party meeting is a ray of hope towards reconciliation between Delhi and Srinagar.

“I as Kashmiri, not as a political leader, felt proud of all leaders there, they spoke for the people of J&K which reflected the pain in a befitting manner. I pay my respects to all the leaders who were in June 24 meeting,” he added.
