Security wing of police traces Vaishnodevi pilgrim’s lost bag containing Rs 72k

The Security Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday traced and returned a lost bag containing Rs 72,220 and some important documents to a pilgrim visiting Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, Police said.

The pilgrim, Vipin Sonkar had reported the loss of his bag, suspected to have been misplaced at either Katra or Sanjichhat Helipad, a police spokesman said.

The Security Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully traced and returned the lost bag containing cash and important documents to its rightful owner at Katra.

Vipin Sonkar reported to the office of the Incharge, Helipad Katra (Anti-Hijacking), and informed that he had misplaced his bag containing several thousand rupees in cash along with personal documents. He stated that the bag might have been left either at Sanjichhat Helipad or Katra Helipad.

Upon receiving the information, security personnel immediately initiated inquiry at both heliports. Employees and staff deployed at the locations were questioned regarding the whereabouts of the missing bag.

Subsequently, Sub-Inspector Girdhari Lal, deployed at Sanjichhat Helipad, reported that an unattended bag had been found at the heliport. Preliminary verification revealed that the recovered bag matched the description provided by the complainant. The bag was thereafter dispatched by helicopter and received at Serli Helipad by the concerned officers.

On opening and verifying the contents of the bag, Rs.72,220 in cash was found along with an Aadhaar card and other identity documents. After thorough verification of ownership, the recovered cash and belongings were handed over to the rightful owner, Vipin Sonkar, on proper _supurdnama_ and against a receipt, in the presence of ASI Parshotam Kumar and other witnesses.

The complainant expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the prompt response, dedication, and sincere efforts of the Security personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police in tracing and returning his lost property.
