Selfie with Tiranga, art installations, youth rallies to mark Har Ghar Tiranga in J&K

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is set to witness a vibrant celebration of patriotic fervour as preparations intensify for the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2025’ campaign, scheduled from August 2 to 15 under the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative.

In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, senior officials reviewed the arrangements to ensure broad-based public participation and effective implementation of the campaign across both urban and rural areas of the UT. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, Culture, Commissioner Secretary, GAD, top police officials, administrative secretaries, and heads of key departments.

Calling for the campaign to be turned into a “Jan Andolan” (mass movement), the Chief Secretary directed all departments to involve school children, youth, Self-Help Groups, and local communities to foster a strong sense of national pride, unity, and patriotic consciousness.

Following the success of the campaign over the past three years, the 2025 edition will focus on community-led and culturally enriched activities, reflecting the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

Three-Phase Celebration Plan

Principal Secretary, Culture, Brij Mohan Sharma informed that the campaign will unfold in three distinct phases:

  • Phase I (August 2–8): Awareness generation through creative and artistic initiatives. Schools, colleges, and public spaces will feature Tiranga-themed wall paintings, murals, rangolis, and exhibitions curated by the Ministry of Culture.
  • Phase II (August 9–12): Focused on mass mobilisation and celebration, this phase will witness Tiranga Mahotsavs, cultural melas, and bike/cycle rallies, celebrating local art, crafts, and SHG-produced Tricolour-themed goods. Community Tiranga Yatras and youth-led parades will also be organised.
  • Phase III (August 13–15): Grand flag hoisting ceremonies, illuminations of government buildings, and major events in Srinagar and Jammu will mark the final leg. Citizens will be encouraged to participate in the popular ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ initiative by uploading photos with the National Flag to the dedicated portal.

Key Highlights

  • Over 15 lakh National Flags are set to be distributed across Jammu and Kashmir.
  • A digital dashboard will be deployed to facilitate real-time event monitoring and reporting.
  • Markets, public buildings, and landmarks will be decorated in Tricolour themes.
  • SHGs will play a crucial role in flag distribution and promotion of local products.

This year’s campaign places special emphasis on grassroots creativity, encouraging art, music, traditional crafts, and cultural expressions that showcase India’s unity in diversity. The administration aims to transform the campaign into a celebration of collective identity and national spirit.
