Retired IAS officer BR Sharma appointed as Chairman JKPSC

Retired IAS officer BR Sharma has been appointed as Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

Lt Governor of the Union Territory Girish Chander Murmu appointed Sharma on the prestigious post.

As per an order issued by General Administration Department (GAD, the Lt Governor of J&K Murmu appointed Sharma as Chairman of the JKPSC. 

Sharma will hold the position of the Chairman in PSC, till he attains the age of sixty two years.

The order by the government of J&K read, “In exercise of powers conferred by section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 and S.O. 3937 (E) dated October 31, 2019, read with order issued in terms of sub clause (i) of clause (c) of the proclamation issued by the President dated October 31, 2019, the Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint Mr BR Sharma, IAS (Retd), as Chairman, Public Service Commisison for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. he shall hold the position of the Chairman, PSC, till he attains the age of sixty two years”.

Before BR Sharma was appointed as Chairman JKPSC, he was Sharma was appointed as Chairman of Staff Selection Commission (SSC), in October last year.

BR Sharma joined Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the year 1984 and was allotted Jammu & Kashmir Cadre. He is a Post-Graduate in Political Science from the University of Jammu, J&K and MBA from Australian National University, Australia.
