Shiv Sena (UBT) protests seeks Statehood restoration for Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu :- Shiv Sena (UBT) activists, under the leadership of Manish Sahni, President Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit protest in front of the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh near the Tawi bridge, demanding the immediate restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Dressed in black bands as a symbol of protest, the demonstrators carried provocative placards calling for an end to the “step-motherly treatment” of Jammu and Kashmir and urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill his promise of restoring the region’s statehood. The visual display of dissent highlighted the ongoing tension between local political sentiments and the central government’s approach to the union territory.

In a pointed critique of the BJP-led central government, Sahni accused the administration of consistently providing “false promises” over the past five and a half years. He emphasized the stark contrast between the government’s enthusiasm for initiatives like ‘one country, one election’ and its apparent lack of effort to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, both within and outside the parliamentary framework.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader did not mince words, warning of a potentially massive mass movement if the demands continue to be ignored. This threat underscores the growing frustration among regional political parties and local activists regarding the current administrative status of Jammu and Kashmir. Sahni’s statement suggests a potential escalation of political pressure on the central government.

The protest represents a significant moment in the ongoing political discourse surrounding Jammu and Kashmir’s status. By choosing to demonstrate near the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh, the activists symbolically connected their current struggle with the region’s historical legacy and identity. The demonstration serves as a reminder of the unresolved political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
