Solar power, smart schools, and better roads: Chushul’s transformation under Stanzin

Chushul Constituency Councillor Konchok Stanzin successfully completed a comprehensive four-day tour of his constituency from July 19 to 22, 2025. The tour, aimed at reviewing developmental projects and engaging with local residents, covered all major villages of the region.

Beginning in Chushul on July 19, Stanzin visited Barma, Kherapullu, Satoo, and Chibra in the Kargyam area on July 20. The next day, he travelled to Maan, Merak, and Spangmik, concluding his tour with visits to Phobrang, Urgo, and Lukung on July 22.

During the tour, the Councillor conducted on-site assessments of ongoing works under various schemes, including the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), District Capex, and Special Development Package (SDP-CCDF), being implemented by departments such as PWD and RDD. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, he assured residents that pending works would be completed promptly.

In addition, Stanzin participated in a Parent-Teacher-Student Meeting at Government High School Chushul. Responding to concerns raised by teachers and the Village Education Committee (VEC)—particularly regarding teacher shortages—he promised to take up the matter with concerned authorities.

Reflecting on his decade-long tenure, the Councillor highlighted significant improvements in health and education infrastructure, including the upgrading of health sub-centres and PHCs with solar power and modern equipment. He also pointed to the introduction of smart classrooms, improved school facilities, and scholarship support for deserving students.

Among the major achievements cited were:

  • Installation of 12 BSNL, 6 Airtel, and 2 Jio towers, dramatically improving connectivity in remote border villages.
  • Development of sports infrastructure in all four Panchayats.
  • Establishment of craft centres for women’s self-help groups to promote local skills and entrepreneurship.
  • Distribution of 100-litre solar water heaters across the constituency, along with other clean energy initiatives.
  • Implementation of essential public utility projects aimed at long-term resilience and everyday needs.

Addressing residents during his interactions, Stanzin said: “This tour was not just about reviewing projects but about listening to the people. Over the past ten years, we’ve seen real transformation—in roads, water, telecom, health, and education. Chushul has emerged as a model of development in a sensitive border region. My commitment is to ensure that no village is left behind.”

The tour concluded with Stanzin reaffirming his dedication to the continued development and welfare of the people of Chushul constituency.
