An Army soldier was killed as a major infiltration attempt by terrorists backed by the Border Action Team (BAT) of the Pakistan Army was foiled along the Line of Control (LoC) near the Tikka Post in the Uri sector of Baramulla district.
The Chinar Corps today identified the martyred soldier as Ankit Kumar.
“Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Havildar Ankit Kumar, who laid down his life while undertaking operational duty along the Line of Control in Uri, Baramulla”, it wrote on X.
Pakistani terrorists tried to carry out a BAT attack on a forward post, but the alert troops retaliated, foiling their infiltration attempt. Subsequently, a large-scale cordon and search operation was launched in the area to track the infiltrators who managed to escape under the cover of darkness and bad weather, reports said.
Another soldier was yesterday killed in action in the Baramulla district. “Chinar Corps deeply regrets the loss of precious life of Braveheart Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district”, the Chinar Corps wrote on X.
