Below is the letter addressed to Lt Governor of J&K by M.Tech student of Government College of Engineering and Technology, Chak Balwal, Jammu:

We take this opportunity to solicit your attention towards the M.Tech students of Government College of Engineering and Technology, Chak Balwal, Jammu.

As our M.Tech 1st semester batch 2020 started on 26 November. And it is being more than 8 months and our exams are not yet conducted by our college authority.

As you are aware of situation, the whole Jammu and Kashmir is suffering because of this covid. The educational institutions are closed. We started our M.Tech 1st semester in online mode and it has been about eight months and now the university is conducting our exams in offline mode.

They are just ruining our carrier by not taking our exams. Other university M.Tech students like SMVDU, central university Jammu, and other colleges have completed their 2nd semester exams by online mode and our university is not in a position to conduct our 1st semester  exams via online mode till date.

Sir, there were students who lived in private PGs and some of the students were living on rent based compartment’s and when our university was closed by government orders. We left our PGs and rented rooms at the same time. So most of students are females and it is not possible for then to travel as they belong from far areas.

Some of the students are from Doda, Kupwara Kashmir Pulwama, Ganderbal, Baramullah, Budgam and other places. We asked for accommodation to the people with whom we were living with but now they are refusing our request by saying that they can’t take  risks. since our 1st semester was started we are asking college  about hostel rooms but they are not showing any response.

The parents of the students are worried about their accommodation and are not ready to send their children’s for studies during these crises. If university opened we have no place to stay. It is kind request to you please look at the issue so we could get some relief. Hope your response will be in our favor.
