A Territorial Army (TA) jawan, Shakir Manzoor who was off duty and was heading for Eid celebrations was abducted by armed terrorists.

The jawan was going to his home in Rishipora when his car was intercepted by a group of armed ultras in Kulgam district. The vehicle was burnt on spot and the jawan was taken along by the terrorists.

A manhunt has been launched by army, local police and intelligence agencies to trace Shakir Manzoor. The jawan had gone missing on Sunday evening.

Police have formed a team and set a massive cordon operation in the forest area of Kulgam and surrounding areas. The family members of the abducted soldier have appealed to the terrorists to release him unharmed.

This is not the first kidnapping of a soldier who was off duty by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Ultras have found a new way of terrorizing those soldiers from Kashmir region who have joined Indian army. Experts say that this is the modus operandi of the Pakistani backed ultras to not let the youth get inducted in army by scaring them of the consequences.

Thousands of Kashmiris take part in the recruitment rallies by Indian army in the region. Pakistan backed ISI has asked its cadre to not let Kashmiri youth join the Indian army that could give a negative impact to its propaganda against India.
