Jammu: Toll collection has commenced today at the Suhanjana Toll Plaza situated on the Jammu Ring Road near Miran Shahib. This move is anticipated to improve traffic management on the ring road and generate funds for road maintenance. According to officials, vehicle owners will be required to pay toll taxes based on their vehicle type and distance traveled.
Necessary arrangements for toll collection have already been put in place. This step is expected to not only streamline traffic but also provide financial support for road upkeep and development.
However, the public has expressed resentment over the imposition of this toll. They argue that the National Highway Authority has yet to complete the road, and toll collection is being implemented concurrently, amounting to a forced levy on the people by the government. Local residents have demanded that vehicles operating within a 20-kilometer radius be exempted from toll charges.
