Two Doctors suspended in Jammu & Kashmir after hospital incident

Srinagar : The Health and Medical Education Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir issued an immediate suspension order for two doctors after an incident at Hakeem Sonaullah Hospital, Sopore. The Government Order No. 115-JK (HME) of 2025, dated February 6, 2025, states that Dr. Anjum Nazir, Consultant Gynaecologist, SDH Sopore, and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, Medical Officer, Diploma in Anesthesia, DH Bandipura, have been suspended pending investigation.

The order further goes on to mention that neither doctor is permitted to carry out any form of private practice in the entire Jammu & Kashmir region. And it has further ordered the sealing of the operation theater at Hakeem Sonaullah Hospital in Sopore which will remain sealed until the conclusion of the enquiry.

Although the order does not mention the details of the incident that happened on February 3, 2025, the government has taken these stringent measures to ensure a fair and impartial investigation while maintaining the integrity of the healthcare system.The order, signed by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, IAS, Secretary to the Government.
