UPSC Main 2021 exam to start from January 7, Check exam pattern, timings and important COVID 19 guidelines here

The Union Service Public Commission will conduct the UPSC Main exam 2021 from January 07, 2022. The exam will be conducted on January 7,8, 9, 15, and 16, 2022 at various exam centres across the country. The commission has released the UPSC Civil Services Main 2021 admit cards on the official website of the Union Service Public Commission. Candidates who passed the UPSC Prelims 2021 exam will appear for the UPSC Main 2021 exam.

UPSC Main 2021 Admit Card

The UPSC main 2021 admit card is available for download on the official website of UPSC. Candidates can download the admit card by submitting their credentials. It is advised that candidates must check the details mentioned on their e-admit card carefully and in case of any discrepancy, they must bring to the notice of the commission immediate. After checking the details, aspirants must take a printout of the admit card to carry it to the exam centre.

UPSC (IAS) Main 2021 Exam Pattern

IAS exam commencing from January 7, 2022 will be an offline exam. The UPSC Main 2021 exam pattern has been the same from the past few years. The exam will contain 9 papers and each paper will carry 250 marks. Candidates will get 3 hours for every paper. The question in the UPSC Main paper will be subjective in nature. The paper will be available in both Hindi and English language. Candidates can choose a language to attempt the paper. UPSC Main 2021 Exam Timings

The UPSC Main 2021 exam will be conducted in two slots. The timings of the exam will be as followed.

  • Forenoon Session: 9 am to 12 noon
  • Afternoon Session: 2 pm to 5 pm

COVID-19 Guidelines For UPSC Main 2021 Exam

  • Wearing a mask/face shield is mandatory for candidates appearing for the UPSC Main exam. Candidates without a mask/face shield will not be allowed to enter the exam centre.
  • Candidates will have to remove their marks/face shield for verification if and when required by the authorities.
  • Candidates can carry sanitiser in a small transparent bottle.
  • Candidates must follow all the COVID-19 norms and social distancing outside and inside the examination halls.

As per the notice released, the Commission has requested the State Governments for ensuring that no inconvenience is caused to the candidates/ examination functionaries in their movement, especially who are coming from containment / micro-containment zone(s) and if necessary, the candidates’ eAdmit Cards and ID Cards of the examination functionaries are to be used as movement passes.

UPSC 2021 Selection Process

The UPSC 2021 selection process includes 3 stages – Prelims, Main, and Interview (Personality Test). Candidates who passed the UPSC Prelims will appear for the Main exam. The commission declared the UPSC Prelims 2021 result on October 29, 2021 on its official website. The candidates who pass the Main exam will be called for the final interview round.

Candidates appearing for the UPSC Main 2021 exam must not carry any electronic device like mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches inside the examination hall as the use of mobile phones or any other electronic device except scientific calculators inside the exam hall is strictly prohibited.

Aspirants can refer to the Prepp website for study material and mock tests. Candidates are advised to solve sample papers and previous years’ question papers available on the Prepp website to gear up for the UPSC Main 2021 exam.
