Many private vehicle owners had to face problems for getting an extension of their vehicles registration certificates as concerned inspecting officials didn’t come forward to perform their job and visitors had to return after wasting many hours.
One of the visitors complained that they reached the RTO Jammu office in the morning to get the life extension of their private vehicles. In order to get the life extension, the concerned inspector had to carry out necessary inspection but there was nobody present in the inspection ground to conduct the required inspection. Visitors alleged that Inspectors were present in the office but they didn’t come out for the inspection. Visitors waited for many hours and had to return back empty-handed. These officials don’t have any accountability for the people and don’t perform their duties whenever they wish without any fear.
Many allege that the Transport Department of Union Territory is corrupted to the core and many officials are involved in this racket. Anti-Corruption Department has recently raided RTO Jammu, ARTO Samba, Kathua and got hold of official records which show that corruption is prevalent with the organization.
Sources informed that some inspectors of JKRTC are showing this public show of inefficiency and harassing the general public. Sources say that there are many employees deployed who have links with officials on higher posts. There are many employees who have passed their extension period and still hold the job as they enjoy connections.
