Viral cricket girl Maqsooma from Kargil gets supports from Ladakh administration

The Ladakh administration has stepped forward to give support to the young talent from Kargil, a video of a girl demonstrating her batting abilities which went viral on social media.

Maqsooma, a sixth-standard student at Kaksar High School, told about her love of cricket in the video and appreciates her father for the support and training she receives at home and teacher at school.

The girl aspires to be a cricketer like former Indian Captain Virat Kohli.

Many people have watched the video, including some international cricketers who have praised her cricket skills. After seeing her video, the Union Territory of Ladakh’s Youth Services and Sports Department made the decision to help not just to the young cricketer but also to her team and the school.

Secretary of Youth and Sports Services and Sports Department, Ravinder Kumar announced that a full cricket set would be sent to Kaksar High School immediately. Kumar told PTI that cricket is a team sport and we must nurture students like Maqsooma and others to hone their individual skills and their ability to play in a team. The secretary said that efforts are being made to develop sports infrastructure in the mountainous region of Ladakh along with the identification of such talent in different sports for additional support and coaching.
