Untimely rains and hailstorm damaged the crops of farmers of Jammu province few months ago and for them compensation was announced in month October.

But it has been three months, hailstorm-affected farmers have yet not been compensated. Tall claims of government of providing compensation to the rain and hailstorm affected farmers of Jammu province was confined to papers only.

With much publicity and media hype, it was announced in the month of October 2021 that compensation will be given to hailstorm-affected farmers of the plains of Jammu province. The lackadaisical approach of concerned officials can very well be seen as even after lapse of three months farmers have yet not been compensated.

Three months have been passed after several thousand hectares of crops were destroyed in Jammu due to heavy downpours and hailstorms in October.

In November various officials of the concerned departments even completed the survey of the losses but those at the helm of the affairs have no time to release compensation for the poor farmers, as per Early Times. In the plains of Jammu paddy crops mainly Basmati varieties standing in thousands of hectares and vegetables got damaged due to untimely rain and storm in R S Pura, Bishnah, Samba, Ramgarh, Marh, Kathua and many other areas of plains of Jammu.
