The Jammu and Kashmir administration is preparing to counter a great challenge in the form of a second wave of Covid-19. Many government officials who have led the fight against Covid-19 have received praises from everyone. These employees are likely to face another challenge.
Since the day Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took charge in August last year, he has taken decisions which have put the derailed system back on track. The kind of efficiency which former governments of the erstwhile state failed to achieve, the dispensation led by Sinha did it in a matter of a few months. He has curbed corruption which was prevalent among government offices of J&K and acted against “big fishes”. He prompted anti-graft agencies to go after corruption who have largely been successful in their mission against corrupt individuals who thought that they are above the law.
Sinha led administration has also made efforts to execute development projects rapidly which was not case with earlier governments. The change in administration has led to visible outcomes. Work culture in government offices has greatly improved. Government employees work hard and take their duties more seriously as they know that employment rules have changed. New rules state that if anyone has completed 22 years in service or has crossed 48 years of age then he/she can be forced to retire in case of unsatisfactory performance.
Law and order situation has also improved significantly in Kashmir. A significant reduction in stone-pelting incidents can be witnessed. L-G Sinha is working to develop peace and prosperity in J&K. Many critics of August 5, 2019 decision have been surprised with Jammu and Kashmir’s transformation.
L-G Sinha-led administration has established a new form of governance which can be followed by any state or union territory for optimum governance. The Centre had also supported him by showing faith in his leadership abilities. The Lieutenant Governor-led administration in J&K has implemented policies which follow the slogan of “sabka saath, sabka vikas,” without discriminating against anyone. People of the region have too responded positively to LG Sinha and his vision for a prosperous J&K.
