Woman tourist from West Bengal killed, 38 injured in bus accident on Jammu-Srinagar highway
A woman tourist from West Bengal was killed and 38 others injured on Saturday when a bus in which they were travelling skidded and hit the hillside near Sita Ram Passi at Kela Morh on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in the Ramban district.
Four seriously injured tourists have been shifted to the Government Medical College at Jammu for treatment, while others were getting medical aid in the district hospital at Ramban.
The bus bearing registration No. WB37D-8989 was on its way towards Jammu from Srinagar and was carrying 55 tourists.

Army, CRPF and J&K Police personnel were engaged in the rescue operation.
Union Minister (PMO) Dr.Jitendra Singh, who had reached Jammu this morning to attend a BJP meeting, was in touch with the district administration and had directed proper medical attention to the injured tourists.
He wrote on X; “Just now spoke to DC Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, after learning about the unfortunate road accident involving a passenger bus bearing a West Bengal registration number, travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu”.
“38 passengers sustained injuries. Sadly, one woman succumbed to her injuries, while four seriously injured persons have been referred to GMC Jammu. The remaining injured are being treated at the District Hospital”, he said.
“All possible assistance and medical aid being provided. My office is in regular touch with the authorities”, the Minister added.
