Yaks that had crossed LoC in J&K’s Gurez retrieved

Twenty nine yaks that had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) on July 31 have been retrieved by th civil and police administration with Army’s help.

Yaks are locally known as ‘Zumbas’ had crossed the LoC into the Pakistani territory while grazing in the upper reaches of Tulail.

The villagers said that their village lies close to the LoC bordering Tulail and their only source of living was agriculture and cattle rearing.

Thus the owners requested the local administration to bring back the yaks who then asked Army to intervene into the matter and bring back the yaks.

On Monday, animals was received from the Pakistani authorities by a local revenue team led by Naib Tehsildar, Salim Ahmad Samoon accompanied by SHO Tulail via Lower Salleem Post of Pakistan to Nadaan post of India.

The owners thanked the concerned SDM and Army officials for their help and returning of their livestock.

It is pertinent to mention that a herd of 29 yaks were grazing and accidently crossed over to the other side of the LoC in Baduaab, Tulail area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, reportedly.
