Youth of Jammu to get employment opportunities through e-rickshaw under Mumkin scheme

In an attempt to secure sustainable livelihood to the youth, Jammu Smart City Limited is giving a chance to youth of Jammu to buy or drive e-rickshaw.

Various applications have been sought from the youth and they will get an e-rickshaw worth Rs 3.22,025 for Rs 1,65,620 after subsidy.

In the first phase two hundred e-rickshaws will be running from JDA Bus Stand, Ranveer Market, Raghunath Bazar, Bharat Mata Chowk, Indira Chowk. The facility is to be provided by the company in three phases. 200 e-rickshaws will run in the first phase, 600 e-rickshaws in the second and third.

Travelling by e-rickshaw will be easy and affordable as journey of two to five kilometres in e-rickshaw will be completed in just five and ten rupees.  Travelling through other means of transport can be expensive and trail on the e-rickshaw has been quite successful. Travelling by e-rickshaw will be much cheaper than auto. At present, Matador is followed by auto service in the city. But on hiring an auto, you have to pay 100 rupees for two to three kilometres. Not only have this but tenders also been invited from companies for running rickshaws, which will be approved soon.

As per reports, it has been mulled to run nearly 800 e-rickshaws in the city. Moreover, it will help in keeping the city pollution-free.

Hitesh Gupta, Deputy CEO, Jammu Smart City Limited said that e-rickshaws service will commence in March and preparations for the same have been started. Further he added that youngsters should come forward and apply for this and will be provided subsidy to buy rickshaws.

For e-rickshaw facility, Raghunath Bazar, Bahu Plaza, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Narwal, Satwari, Kunjwani, Gangyal, Janipur, Bus Stand, Railway Station, Muthi, Rupnagar, Jewel Chowk, Bahu Fort, Places like Talab Tillo etc. have been selected, reportedly.
