Srinagar Police files chargesheet against seven terror associates under UAPA

Srinagar :- In a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism, the Srinagar Police have submitted a comprehensive chargesheet against seven terror associates under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The case, registered as FIR No. 31/2024 at Police Station Khanyar, marks a crucial step in addressing terror-related activities in the region.Charges filed under different sections of UA(P)A, which includes Sections 13, 18, 20, 23, and 38, with Section 7/25 of the Arms Act. The eight-member gang responsible for terror was found to consist of a Pakistani terrorist who functioned under an alias called “Usman”.

The Pakistani handler was later eliminated in a police encounter, with an abate challan also filed in respect of his connection.The chargesheet filed before the UA(P)A Court, Srinagar, outlines the involvement and functions of the seven surviving accused persons. This is one of the landmark cases of law enforcing activities to dismantle terror organizations and their associates.

The charges filed are holistic with an involvement of different sections of the UA(P)A and Arms Act, thus looking at the sternness of the activities and the approach of authorities to fill up security gaps in the region.
