IDA asks centre to open ESIC medical & dental college in Jammu

The Indian Dental Association (IDA), Jammu branch, today urged the Labour Ministry of the Government of India to open an ESIC medical and dental college in Jammu.

During the one day continuing dental education (CDE) program for the dentists here, Dr Himja Mengi, Vice-President, said that IDA has requested the Government of India as well as the J&K UT Government to sanction an ESIC Medical and Dental College for Jammu which will be helpful for students of J&K to pursue medical education in Jammu. It will also be beneficial for patients to get the treatment without going out of the UT as well as it will boost the economy of J&K.

More than 70 dentists attended the CDE program.

Th CDE included lecture and hands-on workshop which was conducted by a well known Prosthodontist Dr. Sachin Deep Singh on the topic “Indirect Ceramic Restorations and Bonding Protocols”. It comprised of case planning, ceramic selection, tooth preparation, bonding techniques, demonstration and hands-on by the participants.

Dr Sanjay Sharma, Deputy Director, Health Service, Jammu, was the chief guest while Dr Bhupinder Singh, President, J&K Dental Council (J&KDC) was guest of honour during this event.

Dr. Nipun Gupta, President IDA Jammu, informed that more such events will be conducted in the near future.

Dr Gautam Sharma, former President, IDA, said that this continuing education program and hands-on by the participants under an expert guidance is highly beneficial for the dentists as well as the patients who are planning to get the veneers treatment for their teeth.

Certificates of attendance were given to all participants.
