Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, J&K Police seized Mechanized Motor Boat in Awantipora.
A Police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Incharge Police Post under the supervision of SHO PS Awantipora seized one Mechanized motor boat used for illicit extraction of sand from river Jehulm at Reshipora. The individuals involved have been identified by the Police as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, Feroz Ah Bhat son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, Rayees Ah Bhat son of Abdul Ahad Bhat all residents of Reshipora. Accordingly, case vide FIR NO. 49/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood, Police said.
J&K Police have seized 6 Tippers and one Tractor involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals across the district Ganderbal.
These vehicles were found transporting illegally extracted material from Nallah Sindh without the mandatory permissions. Acting swiftly and in close coordination with the Geology & Mining Department, teams from the various police stations intercepted and seized these vehicles on the spot, tightening the clampdown on illegal mineral transportation in the area. Illegal extraction not only causes loss to the public exchequer but also poses a serious threat to the ecological balance of the region.
J&K Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting natural resources and curbing such unlawful activities. Police will continue to take stringent legal action against all violators involved in unlawful extraction, transportation, or trade of minerals, Police said.
