In a rare honour, Rohit Kansal (IAS, 1995 batch), Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, has been appointed as Honorary Special Fellow at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Centre for Security & Strategic Studies, School of International Studies (SIS), JNU.
His appointment has been announced by Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
The honorary appointment recognises Kansal’s distinguished public service and extensive administrative experience. As Honorary Special Fellow, he is expected to contribute to academic dialogue, research engagement and policy discussions at the Centre.

Kansal has been in the J&K cadre of IAS that was merged into the AGMUT cadre after abrogation of Article 370.
