Ladakh’s Aryan valley comes alive as Army launches grand sports & cultural fest

The Indian Army today inaugurated the week-long Aryan Valley Sports and Cultural Festival at Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey (PVC) Stadium, Garkone, marking the beginning of seven days of sports, cultural activities, and community engagement in the region.

The opening ceremony was graced by Brigadier Dev Commander of the 192 Mountain Brigade (Tiger Hill Brigade), as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by local councillors, nambardars, village elders, and a large number of residents from Garkone and nearby villages.

The inaugural function witnessed enthusiastic participation from school students, who presented a series of colourful and inspiring performances showcasing their talent and creativity. Cultural troupes from the Aryan Valley also captivated the audience with traditional dances and cultural presentations, reflecting the rich heritage and unique identity of the region.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest appreciated the enthusiasm of the local youth and highlighted the importance of sports and cultural activities in promoting unity, discipline, and social harmony. He commended the people of the Aryan Valley for preserving their cultural traditions while actively participating in developmental and sporting initiatives.

The festival, organised by the Indian Army, aims to encourage youth participation in sports, promote cultural heritage, and strengthen the bond between the Army and the local population. Various sporting competitions and cultural programmes will be conducted throughout the seven-day festival.

The opening day concluded on a vibrant note, with participants and spectators expressing excitement for the events scheduled in the coming days.
