Two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu on Friday.
Two terrorists have been killed in an encounter, a security officer has lost his life and four others injured in the encounter, reportedly.
An encounter broke out in the wee hours on Friday in Sunjuwan area of Jammu. As per reports, two Pakistani terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad group, and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the CISF scummed to his injuries and five more have been injured.
The encounter began when security forces launched an operation at the Sunjwan cantonment area in Jammu city. The operation was launched after the information was received by the joint team of forces in the Sunjwan area. CISF said that terrorists targeted a bus carrying its personnel and an Assistant Sub Inspector was killed.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said that ultras started firing on the security forces in the dark due to which one personnel was killed and few were injured. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said that the operation is going on.
The encounter comes ahead of PM Modi’s arrival in J&K on Sunday and this is a major security concern ahead of his visit to J&K. Security agencies said that the forces have been on high alert in the region in view of the PM’s visit. Also a meeting between police and intelligence agencies will be held later in the day, reportedly in order to check the security arrangements ahead of the PM’s visit.
