AIR, Doordarshan Kendras for Leh and Kargil demanded by Lt Guv

The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur called upon Prakash Keshav Javadekar, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting in New Delhi on March 3 to discuss various issues regarding Ladakh.

During the meeting, the Lt. Governor raised the need to facilitate border area residents with access to information and spreading awareness for which he made a request to the Minister for distribution of around 30,000 set-top boxes. He also requested independent All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra in the twin districts of Leh and Kargil and deployment of Public Information Bureau officers/ officials to UT of Ladakh.

Javadekar agreed to consider the points put up in the meeting.

Yesterday, the Lt. Governor met Jitender Singh, MoS PMO in New Delhi and discussed issues concerning jobs and recruitment in UT Ladakh.

In another meeting with Gokul Patnaik, Chairman, Global Agro Systems, LG Mathur discussed the high-value potential in the agriculture sector with the adoption of science-based advanced cultivation and marketing strategies. Similarly, the potential for producing high quality products of pashmina, seabuckthorn and black cumin (Kala jeera) were also discussed.
