The beginning of registration of pilgrims for Shri Amarnath Yatra will be done through online board from April and was informed by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) on Thursday night. This year Yatra is expecting heavy footfall and daily nearly twenty thousand passengers will get a chance to visit Baba Barfani from the traditional Baltal and Pahalgam tracks. For this, the facility of twenty thousand advance passenger registration will be provided daily.

If twenty thousand passengers are registered daily, then the number of journeys will cross six lakhs in a month. In the year 2021 also, the registration figure was 7500 to ten thousand in each of the two routes daily but due to Covid-19 , the journey could not be done.

Additional CEO SASB Rahul Singh during a high-level meeting chaired by Jammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer to review the arrangements for the upcoming yatra said that to ensure the safety of Amarnath pilgrims, the board has decided to use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for tracking movement of vehicles and pilgrims during this year’s pilgrimage to the revered Shrine.

“The RFID tag cards will be issued to all the pilgrims”, he said.

During the meeting, the Div Com emphasized the need to make necessary arrangements for proper coordination for smooth conduct of Yatra.
