Amid the rise in targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high level meeting on Friday.

Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, national security advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Manoj Pande and other top officials from security agencies attended the meeting.

The meeting had been called due to spate of targeted killings in J&K. In the month of May three civilians and two security personnel were killed including Kashmiri Hindus. A 36-year-old migrant Kashmiri Pandit and high school teacher Rajni Bala was shot dead by terrorists in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir recently. In the latest attack, a bank manager, identified as Vijay Kumar, was shot dead outside his office by terrorists in Kulgam district on Thursday.  A non-local brick kiln was also killed during the day, while another labourer was injured in a separate incident. Many Kashmiri Pandits are holding protests in Srinagar against targeted killings.

It is pertinent to mention that ahead of the crucial meeting, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had on Thursday met Shah and is believed to have discussed the security situation in J&K which has witnessed a spate of targeted killings since May 12.
