Jammu and Kashmir has recorded the highest inflation rate as per the latest National Statistical Office (NSO) report. The rate of 7.39 percent is extremely disturbing and shocked the people of the region.

According to the figures of Ministry of Statistics and Programme and the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) unemployment rate of 21.6 percent in J&K is the highest among all states and Union Territories (UTs) in the country. Similarly, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) reports states that the inflation rate of 7.39 percent has made the region costliest place to live in India, reportedly.

The national average Inflation rate, the report noted, was recorded at 4.35 percent for the month of September.

However in Jammu and Kashmir despite slowing national inflation rate, there is no breather for inhabitants of the Union Territory. Major factors attributing to the rising costs in the state is heavy dependence on imports from other places.
