A new toll plaza is set to become functional at Lakhanpur from April 1 even as Jammu had resisted an earlier plaza at Sarore last year.
The BJP leadership had of Jammu also asked the central government to remove Sarore toll plaza but instead another plaza has been made functional.
The government had removed the excise department toll post at Lakhanpur in December last year after which people had thought there would be no toll collection at the point. However setting up of new toll plaza has come as a shock for Jammu that had overwhelmingly voted for BJP in Lok Sabha elections.
Now Jammu will have three toll plazas including one at Ban, Sarore and Lakhanpur.
