Cloudburst near Amarnath shrine leaves at least 10 dead, rescue operation ongoing

A cloudburst that occurred Friday night in the south Kashmir Himalayas near the revered cave sanctuary of Amarnath has claimed at least 10 lives. It also caused damage to 25 tents and three community kitchens, according to authorities.

They informed that a cloudburst occurred at 5.30 pm amidst significant rainfall. The flowing floods damaged three community kitchens which provided meals to pilgrims along with 25 tents at the base camp outside the temple.

This unfortunate incident has claimed the lives of at least ten people. Police, Army, and ITBP troops have initiated a rescue operation. The authorities have temporarily suspended Amarnath Yatra.
