CS Kundra visits new terminal of Leh airport ahead of inauguration

Chief Secretary, Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, visited the newly constructed terminal of Kushok Bakula Rimpochee (KBR) Airport, Leh, ahead of its scheduled inauguration, and took stock of the preparedness and ongoing works at the facility.

During the visit yesterday, the Chief Secretary inspected various sections of the new terminal, including the Departure Lounge, Arrival Lounge, Waiting Area, Frisking Area, Food Lounge and other passenger facilities. He reviewed the overall readiness of the terminal and assessed the progress of the remaining works required to make the facility fully operational.

Airport Director, Airports Authority of India, KBR Airport Leh, A. Umasankar, briefed the Chief Secretary on the status of the ongoing works and the arrangements being put in place ahead of the inauguration. He apprised the Chief Secretary of the progress made across different sections of the terminal and the works pending for completion.

The Chief Secretary directed the concerned officers to expedite the remaining works and ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed within the stipulated timeline. He stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of the pending works and readiness of the terminal for its inauguration.

He further emphasised that all passenger amenities and essential facilities should be fully functional and properly maintained, keeping in view the convenience, comfort and safety of passengers.

The visit was aimed at taking a first-hand assessment of the preparedness of the new terminal and ensuring that all requisite arrangements are in place ahead of its inauguration.

Secretary, Civil Aviation, Nidhi Malik; Airport Director, Airports Authority of India, KBR Airport Leh, A. Umasankar; and other concerned officers and officials accompanied the Chief Secretary during the visit.
