DDC chairpersons call on Lt Governor, alleges non-cooperation of some officers

Delegations of Chairpersons of District Development Councils (DDCs) met Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. During the meeting with the Lt Governor at Raj Bhawan in Jammu, the delegation of DDC Chairpersons informed him about the difficulties being faced by them because some of the officers allegedly not showing any cooperation and overlapping  responsibilities.

DDC chairpersons alleged bureaucratic inertia and some officers show no coordination. Since getting an improper response by the administration during emergency situations like power failure, floods and closure of roads etc, DDC Chairperson suggested sensitizing of officers for proper coordination between the administration and elected representatives to ensure effective functioning of the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs).

DDC chairpersons gave a suggestion regarding the financial requirement of PRIs there should be a dedicated Finance Commission, the delegation also stressed for powers to DDC Councils to accord administrative approval.

The members of the delegation shared their ideas and suggestions and put forward their demands by submitting a memorandum to the Lt Governor pertaining to various administrative measures.

The delegation of DDC Chairpersons comprising Bharat Bhushan, Chairman DDC Jammu; Saraf Singh Nag, Chairman DDC Reasi; Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman DDC Samba; Koushal Kotwal, Chairman, DDC Doda; Juhi Pathania, Vice-Chairperson, DDC Udhampur and Subhash Chander, Member DDC Samba, showed regard towards the Lt Governor for the efforts and endeavours of UT Government to strengthen democracy in J&K which is in line with the vision of Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Block Development Councils (BDCs) chairpersons led by Arun Kumar Sharma, Chairman, BDC Sunderbani also met the Lt Governor and informed him about various issues pertaining to the promotion of tourism sector in the region, electrification of SC/ST habitations, installation of Solar lights, up gradation of grid stations and health facilities at Sub District Hospital Sunderbani, with adequate doctors and nursing staff.

The other members of the delegation including Surinder Kumar, Chairman, BDC Marh; Brijeshwar Singh, Chairman, BDC Barnoti; Sanjeet Kumar, Chairman, BDC Jaganoo; Shafiq Mir, Chairman, BDC Buffliaz among others, also stressed upon the issues and concerns of public importance of their respective areas and seeked the redressal of Lt Governor.
