Even after abrogation of article 370 and despite the fact there are so many universities in Jammu and Kashmir not even a single local Vice-Chancellor has been appointed in different universities of Jammu, as per Early Times.
Even though J&K Government has made tall claims that appointments were made purely on academic and research achievements but netizens flooded social media with various posts claiming appointments of non-locals as vice-chancellors of different universities of Jammu.
Many eyebrows have been raised due to appointing non-locals as Vice-Chancellors of Jammu region in recent times. Even after appointment of Prof Umesh Rai as Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University, many netizens expressed their anger over ignoring local deserving candidates for this important position, reportedly.
People of Jammu have been unhappy over ignoring local academicians for Vice-Chancellor of universities. People hoped that discrimination would come to an end after abrogation of article 370 but ground reality is different. Universities in Jammu including University of Jammu, Cluster University of Jammu, Central University of Jammu, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu and Baba Ghulam Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri have non-local Vice-Chancellors.
