Far flung areas of Jammu taking up mushroom farming and reaping benefits

Far flung areas in Jammu division have become aware of the benefits of mushroom farming and are reaping benefits.

In Kishtwar district of Jammu division, army has started to train locals in mushroom farming after which Self Help Groups (SHG) are formed so that they can avail easy loans from banks.

People in the remote areas of Chhatroo block of Kishtwar district are all set to make a good income in mushroom cultivation.

To promote the cultivation of this cash crop, Indian Army had conducted a Mushroom Farming Awareness Camp in collaboration with the District Administration at Chhatroo. During the camp, youth were made aware of Button mushroom cultivation and marketing of the product.

Youth who are interested in farming can easily learn mushroom farming that is rapidly picking up in other neighboring states including Punjab. The harvest is easily sold in market with monetary benefits.

Seeing it as a boon, local youth of Kishtwar expressed their gratitude towards the Army for the noble initiative and displayed enthusiasm for cultivation of this aromatic crop in the area.
