Farmers near LoC carry out agricultural activities without fear in Rajouri and Poonch

Since the conditions have improved and changed near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts, farmers are back to normal agricultural works. Firing and shelling has come to halt near the Loc which has made farmers continue their agricultural activities without any fear.

On February 2, ceasefire agreement between the armies of India and Pakistan was announced making the situation peaceful on the LoC for the past nine months.

Farmers residing along the LoC informed that there remained a threat of firing and shelling always but the agricultural activities are being carried on smoothly. Muhammad Rashid of Lam said that he still remembers the time when none of the farmers could go to fields for sowing.

Rizwan, while working in the fields in the Lam area said that the peaceful situation prevailing along the LoC was like a dream come true for them. He further said that fields in their area have a fertile land and could produce in huge numbers and added that now they can do agricultural activities without any fear.

As per Greater Kashmir, several thousands of kanal of agricultural fields are located along the LoC, many thousands kanal land even located beyond the barbed wire fence. In the past, many farmers were even killed and injured due to firing and shelling along the LoC.
