1.Double hump camels-

Ladakh also known as cold desert has Bactrian camels, which have two humps on their furry skin, in contrast to the single humped dromedary camels. These are the major attraction point in the Nubra valley of the region. One of the interesting fact about these camels is that they can survive in up to the lowest temperature as nearly as -40 degrees

2. Gravity Hill-

There is a hill in India where, instead of rolling downwards, things actually go uphill. The famous Magnetic Hill is where if someone puts its car on neutral will automatically start moving upwards. Also known as ‘Gravity Hill’, this extraordinary road is situated on the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar highway, which is about 30kms from Leh.

3. Their own Calendar-

People of Ladakh follow Tibetan calendar. Under this calendar, each year has 12 months with 30 days in each. But what makes it unique is that every third year will have 13 months. The months do not have any name and are just numbered. The days are named after the five visible planets, the sun, and the moon. That extra month in every third year is added at the time of any auspicious days and any inauspicious weeks or days are just cut off from the calendar.

 

4. Highest Saltwater Lake That Freezes-

Pangong Lake is located at 4,350m and it is the world’s highest located salt water lake. This lake is shared between India and China. Saline water sources do not usually freeze during winter but, the Pangong Lake freezes which makes it unique.

 

5. Lamayuru a universal paradise-

Lamayuru, a place when someone reaches here it feels as if they have landed on the moon. This place has a perfect lunar landscape that is the soil of this place depicts that of the moon. Situated about 127 kms away from the city of Leh, the colour of the soil in Lamayuru looks just like that on the moon.
