Flash floods block river Zanskar in Ladakh, creates artificial lake

After an outburst of an artificial lake near Rumbak resulting in blockage of Zanskar river a lake has been created posing a threat to villages along the way of river.

Additional District Magistrate, Leh, Sonam Chosjor in an order has said that the lake formed in the river may outburst anytime.

A team of officers including Chief Engineer NHPC, SDM Liker, SDM Khaltsi, Tehsildar Leh among others has been formed to take stock of the situation.
