Gupkar alliance to meet on Tuesday to discuss strategy on PM meet; Mehbooba may skip Delhi meeting

With the official invitation extended to at least eight political parties of Jammu and Kashmir for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting on June 24, the Gupkar Alliance has decided to hold discussions on Tuesday to decide the strategy of the crucial meet.

Gupkar alliance is an amalgamation of prominent Kashmir based parties that was formed in October 2020 to demand statehood for J&K.

Parties including National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party that are a part of Gupkar alliance have also received invite for the PM’s meeting. However PDP supremo Mehbooba Mufti may skip the meeting as she had demanded that the agenda of meeting should be told to the participating members beforehand.

However the alliance has decided to meet on Tuesday (June 22) and discuss the strategy to be followed during the meeting. The alliance may also elect a representative that will hold talks on their behalf with PM Modi. Sources informed that the agenda of the meeting has so far not been divulged to the political parties that have been extended an invite.

However it is expected that restoration of statehood, assembly elections and delimitation among other issues may be discussed during the crucial meeting.
