Heavy rain prediction for next 48 hours in parts of Jammu and Kashmir

Heavy rain showers has been predicted to continue across the Union Territory for the next 24-48 hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the ongoing spell of fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls will prevail across the Western Himalayan region, including Jammu & Kashmir, until today, i.e. Tuesday, July 20.

As per the weather office, there was light to moderate rainfall in J&K, whereas heavy rainfall has been reported from isolated places in Jammu region.

The IMD has issued an orange alert over Jammu as well as Kashmir for Tuesday, with the advisory for residents to be ready for the rough weather. The alert will be downgraded to a yellow watch on Wednesday, which says that to be aware of the local weather situation.

It has been advised to people to take proper precautions against potential downpour-induced flash floods, landslides, shooting stones and water-logging in low-lying areas for the next two days.

Rainfall has been observed in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and neighboring regions since past 24 hours. Also the isolated places across J&K witnessed thunderstorms.
