Srinagar :- Jammu & Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Monday that comprehensive restoration work is underway following recent snowfall across the valley. The government has mobilized resources to address the weather-related challenges affecting the region.”Following the snowfall in J&K yesterday, particularly in the valley, restoration work is in full swing & being closely monitored,” Abdullah stated in his official communication.
The Chief Minister provided specific details about the power situation, noting that the valley is currently drawing 1200 MW of electricity, with expectations of increased demand as the day progresses. To ensure effective response to the situation, Abdullah has deployed two ministers – Sakina Itoo and Javaid Dar – along with advisor Nasir Aslam Wani to conduct ground-level assessments across different districts.
The administration has prioritized snow clearance operations, focusing initially on major roads to maintain essential connectivity. This response comes as the Kashmir Valley experienced fresh snowfall last night, with the meteorological department forecasting additional snowfall throughout the day.
These measures reflect the government’s proactive approach to managing winter-related challenges in the region, with a particular focus on maintaining essential services and infrastructure during adverse weather conditions.
