Srinagar snowfall hits flights services at Srinagar air port

Srinagar, January 6: Air traffic at the Srinagar International Airport faced significant disruptions on Monday as fresh snowfall blanketed the Kashmir valley, adding to existing challenges from a weekend of adverse weather conditions.

Airport authorities are currently engaged in snow removal operations on the runway, with all flights rescheduled to depart after 9:30 AM, according to an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official.The latest snowfall, which began on Sunday, compounds the airport’s recent weather-related difficulties.

Over the weekend, dense fog had already caused numerous flight delays, diversions, and cancellations, severely impacting air travel in and out of the region.The current disruption marks the third consecutive day of weather-related challenges at the airport, highlighting the winter weather’s significant impact on air connectivity to the Kashmir valley.

This latest meteorological event continues a pattern of winter weather disruptions that typically affect the region during this season, when snow and fog frequently impact transportation infrastructure.
