Jammu :- India and Pakistan had a flag meeting of the level of brigade commanders on Friday along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir with the purpose of de-escalating tensions in the wake of recent incidents across the LoC.
The 75 Min meeting, starting at 11 am at the Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing point, witnessed both sides reiterating the need to keep the borders peaceful.According to official sources, the meeting was conducted in a cordial atmosphere, with both nations agreeing to uphold the ceasefire agreement to preserve border peace.
This diplomatic engagement is particularly significant as ceasefire violations have been uncommon since the two countries renewed their agreement on February 25, 2021.The meeting follows several recent security incidents in the region.
On February 11, an IED attack by suspected terrorists in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu claimed the lives of two Indian Army personnel, including a captain, while leaving another injured. Additional incidents included injuries to two army personnel in separate cross-border firing incidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts on February 10 and 14, plus two more soldiers were wounded in landmine explosions in Poonch over the past week.
