Jammu Municipal Corporation fights Coronavirus

In the prevailing situation arising due to outbreak of Corona Virus pandemic, the team of Jammu Municipal Corporation is putting extra effort to keep the city clean.

The sanitation drive was started since March 23 and is continuing, where during the drive, JMC has covered various expansive areas, extended wards like Barnai, Sunjwan, the roads of Talab Tillo, Trikuta Nagar, National highway like Narwal highway Sidhra highway which was facing a problem of accumulation of garbage since years had been intensively cleared by the teams of sanitation.

During the drive de-silting has also been done in deep drains falling in these areas & huge dumps & garbage also removed so as to give clean, healthy atmosphere around & improved sanitation to the general public.

Further on many chronic areas twin dustbins have been installed. Apart from daily/routine lifting of garbage from entire Jammu Municipal Corporation areas, more than 2000 tonnes of garbage/silt has also been collected & transported to the dumping site at Kot Bhalwal as a result of these drives. In addition simultaneous de-silting had  also been carried out on daily basis in Kunj Vihar sec 4 Nanak Nagar Landoi Choi nallah, Kabir Colony nallah and  Talab Tillo nallah in which more than 4800 MT of silt has been removed till date.

Jammu Municipal Corporation deployed both men and machinery for special drive conducted on the directions of Avny Lavasa, Commissioner & under overall supervision of Tinna Mahajan, Secretary JMC. The deployment include 4 to 6 no JCB /10 to 12 tippers/25 to 35 nallah labour & 100 to 150 SKCs on daily basis.

Besides above, today Jammu Municipal Corporation in coordination with Fire Brigade, Jammu and Agriculture Department have put four boom sprayers and two new mist sprayers into service for cleaning main roads like Asia road, Airport road, Fly over, Tawi bridges, Gandhi Nagar roads, Jewel roads, Indira Chowk, Ambphalla roads etc. to stop every possibility of spreading Corona Virus.  JMC shall continue to undertake such sanitation drives by putting more men and machinery to maintain proper sanitation and hygiene during these days.

The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation further appealed to the general public to maintain proper sanitation, as without the help of citizens it is hard to achieve the desired results and to make Jammu a clean city.

Among others Health Officer, MVO, CTO, field staff’ of Transport and Sanitation wing continue to put their best efforts  during the drive.
