4 soldiers and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) were martyred on Monday morning during a an encounter in Poonch district of Jammu division.
The encounter took place in the Pir Panjal range.
The encounter started between army and terrorists when the former were undertaking an anti-insurgency operation.
A Defence spokesperson said the search and cordon operation was started in a village near DKG in Surankote. The early morning operation was launched after intelligence inputs were received about the presence of terrorists there.
