Jammu :- The Crime Branch (CB) of Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested six people, including a J&K Bank employee, for duping 15 candidates of Rs 1.34 crore on the pretext of providing them jobs in the Territorial Army and J&K Bank.
Two separate complaints were filed with the Crime Branch by Jugal Kumar and Gopal Chand, residents of Samba district, who alleged that Tarsem Singh and Balbir Singh, both residents of Samba, had fraudulently promised them jobs in the Territorial Army’s sports category. The accused demanded money from the complainants and received a total of Rs 9 lakh each from them through cheques, online transfers, and cash.
They even prepared fake call letters with forged signatures and stamps of senior officers to make the job offers appear legitimate. When the complainants reached the joining location as per the fake letters, they were denied entry, and they realized they had been scammed.
The accused also refused to return the original qualification certificates and other documents submitted by the candidates. In another incident, Sahil Choudhary, a resident of Rajouri district, filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) alleging that Sunny Sharma and Bisharat Hussain Mirza had promised him a permanent job as a Class IV employee in J&K Bank. The accused convinced Choudhary and his grandmother to pay Rs 8 lakh for the job and took them to Srinagar, where they met two more accused, Majid Ali, an employee of J&K Bank’s Batmaloo branch in Srinagar, and Imran Tantray.
Choudhary transferred Rs 7.9 lakh to accounts provided by the accused and was handed a fake appointment order for the post of Banking Attendant at The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited. However, upon reaching the J&K Bank branch in Rajouri for joining, Choudhary was informed that the appointment order was fake.
